Limited edition Henderson’s Relish silverware
As part of this year’s Galvanize festival Sheffield, silversmith Katey
Felton has come together with the city’s most famous brand to celebrate
all things Sheffield.
Your Henderson’s Relish will now be able to take pride of place on the
dinner table as Katey has created an exclusive range of accessories for
the bottle, including a silver coaster for the bottle to sit in and a
silver lid to top things off nicely.
Each coaster is handmade in Britannia silver and laser-engraved
with the Henderson’s Relish logo. To make them even more special only
50 will be made and laser-engraved with it’s own edition number.
However as part of the annual Galvanize festival Katey will produce a
different design each year, building up the range which will undoubtedly
become highly-sought after collector’s items and antiques of the future.
Miss Felton said, ‘The design came about whilst having dinner with a
friend and using Henderson’s Relish and I wanted to adorn the bottle
with silver so it could be shown off and celebrated. I love the fact
that this brings the new and innovative side of Sheffield’s cultural
industries together with Henderson’s Relish, something which is steeped
in Sheffield’s tradition and such a strong symbol of the city’s
identity.’
The set is £195 complete with its own wooden box and limited edition leaflet.

Katey creates the next Millennium punch cup to be launched in December
In the year 2000, Sheffield Assay Office commissioned a Millennium Punchbowl and Ladle along with four cups. This is a unique collaboration by four designer silversmiths; Alex Brogden, Chris Knight, Brett Payne and Keith Tyssen. A new cup is added each year, commissioned from a different modern silversmith.
This year Katey was asked to design and make her own unique punch cup. Taking inspiration from the Sheffield hallmark she has produced a piece entitled, ‘Yorkshire Rose’. Hand chased in Britannia silver, Katey has captured the form of a flower beautifully as the piece seems to almost grow from the surface on which it stands. On closer inspection inside the cup a gilt ‘Yorkshire Rose’ can be seen.
This piece holds a deeper resonance, being the final piece hallmarked at the Sheffield Assay Offices’ former site before its relocation in July of this year. The piece can be seen from December at Sheffield’s Millennium Gallery.

Katey completes a charger to be housed in the National Trust’s Nostell Priory building, Wakefield
This year Katey completed her largest commission to date, a 20″ Silver Salver. The piece, commissioned by The Friends of Nostell Priory to mark their silver anniversary, is hand chased in Britannia Silver.
Inspiration for the design came from various areas inside Nostell Priory itself, looking at everything from the plasterwork to the furniture. In doing this a strong connection is formed between the piece and its home, where it can now be viewed in the State Dining Room.
Goldsmiths’ Craftsmanship & Design Award 2007 for Katey Felton
The Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council, founded by the Goldsmiths’ Arts Trust Fund in 1908, aims to encourage, stimulate and promote excellence in craftsmanship and design amongst all those in the United Kingdom engaged in Gold- & Silversmithing.
The unique annual competition – to which there is no parallel in Europe – represents the highest possible craftsmanship award in the UK.
Under the patronage of HRH Princess Michael of Kent and Principal Patrons, Cartier Ltd, Katey was awarded the ‘Chasers Senior Award’. The jury pointed out the high standards in the technique of chasing, unique design and quality of craftmanship.
The award ceremony was held on Monday 26th February 2007 in the prestigious Goldsmiths’ Hall in London.
The recipients of the awards have been chosen by more than 65 judges of the different categories, representing the country’s most respected craftsmen, designers and specialists.
The set of vases was on show at an exhibition in the Goldsmiths’ Hall early in March 2007, together with the other award-winning pieces.
